After a hiatus of a couple years, the Crazy Hats are back!!  The hats have been a big attraction at past festivals. Some people buy them to wear for Mother’s Day, Kentucky Derby Day or some people have collected them and hung them in their homes.

For months the members of the Apopka Woman’s Club collect newspapers, ribbons, flowers, and bows to make these popular hats. The newspapers are molded by wrapping newspaper around a bowl, then they cut, roll & staple the brims. They are then ready to decorate!

The women have FUN decorating the hats with ribbons, flowers and bows. It takes 30 to 45 minutes to make and decorate each hat.

Remember all money from the sale of the hats goes directly back to the community in the form of scholarships and donations to local non-profits and organizations.
